McAfee VirusScan + AntiSpyware available free to resident students

McAfee VirusScan + AntiSpyware for Windows and Mac OS X! McAfee VirusScan includes an Anti-Spyware module that can detect and block potentially unwanted programs. This version of McAfee VirusScan has several other important features, including buffer overflow prevention, port blocking, and file/folder/share protection. Resident students may download this version now. Please read the installation notes below, and then click to download.

Students

In order to provide a safer and more secure computing environment, we are offering antivirus software for download from this web page for resident students. Computers that are connected to the CUA network, including those personally owned by students, must have up-to-date antivirus software installed.  All you need to do to get the software is click on the link below while connected to the network in your residence hall, and follow these steps:

1. Accept the license agreement.
2. Enter your username and password.
3. Select your operating system (for example, Windows Vista, Windows 7).
4. Click the Continue button.
5. When the download window appears, choose "Save" and save this file to your desktop.
6. After download completes, double-click the file on your desktop.

Windows XP, Vista and 7 users must follow these additional steps:

• Part ONE
  1. If prompted to install the software by the Windows Security Advisor (Windows Vista, 7) click CONTINUE.
  2. On the McAfee installer, click NEXT
  3. License Expiry Type (top left): Select "perpetual" from the drop-down box
  4. Click "I accept the terms..." (bottom of window)
  5. Click OK
  6. Select Typical and click on NEXT
  7. Click the INSTALL button
• Part TWO
  1. The Anti-Spyware setup will launch automatically (you may have to click on the flashing Task Bar button to bring the window to the front).
  2. Click NEXT
  3. License Expiry Type (top left): Select "perpetual" from the drop-down box
  4. Click "I accept the terms..." (bottom of window)
  5. Click OK
  6. The anti-spyware setup will finish installing - Click FINISH
  7. If you wish to check on the latest updates "and" run a scan of your hard drive, then check both boxes and click FINISH...it is suggested to at least update your McAfee files.
  8. Click CLOSE and wait for the setup program to close all windows; then reboot your computer

Please note: this download will operate only from your residence hall room.
