Recreational Computing

Recreate (re' kree-ayt) v.  To impart fresh life to; refresh mentally or physically.
-The American Heritage Dictionary, Standard College Edition

All computing is recreational. Computers expand the way we learn and relax, the way we "refresh mentally." The machine serves as both pedagogical instrument and exotic world of discovery. They are unlike any learning tool that has come before.

Nevertheless, The Catholic University of America is, first and foremost, an educational institution. Thus, those uses of our computer systems deemed most educational always take priority over other, less-pedagogical applications. How is this priority best defined? Simply put, someone wishing to use a machine for work directly related to a class or project should be allowed access over anyone who is using a computer for non-academic reasons.

Computer Usage Policies

The university's computer usage policies are explained in detail in the Computer Ethics policy document.

By using your CUA network account, you agree to abide by these policies.
