The Catholic University of America

 CUA Wireless Network Informaiton

Overview

CUA's wireless network is designed to provide secure and reliable network connections for our campus community.

Locations

Technology Services provides wireless network access in all academic, administrative, residential, recreational, and dining spaces across the university. Please contact Technology Services to report concerns about network coverage or access.

Who can Access

Wireless networks are available to faculty, staff, and students, and their guests. Technology Services offers different networks featuring different levels of access and authentication requirements.

How to Access

All devices have different configuration interfaces and options, so maintaining a universal step by step guide is impractical. Please contact your device vendor for detailed instructions on how to access a wireless network. CUA offers the following broadcast wireless networks to the university community:

  1. CUA-SECURE is a wireless network open to CUA faculty, staff, and students only. This network requires you to login with your Cardinal Credentials to access it. When you change your password (every 180 days), you will need to re-login to this wireless network using your new password. You can access all CUA resources on this network. Please note that you no longer use the password that was listed on our website for access; you now use your username and password (Cardinal Credentials). Also, please be aware that if you are using an Apple product that you will need to state that you trust this server before access is allowed.

  2. CUA-GUEST is a wireless network for registered devices. This network is targeted to visitors and guests, but is open to the entire CUA community. This network requires device registration during which you to agree to the University's Acceptable Use Policy to access the network. Guest access is active for only 8 hours from the device is registered, and the access is limited to internet only (similar to a Starbucks or cafe).

  3. Eduroam - You can read more about eduroam on our website here.
