Reset your password on all your devices
- Have all your devices with you - smartphones, tablets, laptops, desktops etc.
- Change your password settings for CUA-Secure, Gmail, and browsers on all your devices
Other actions to take:
- Using a University encrypted computer? Please see special instructions for when the computer is not connected to the campus network.
- Provide an alternate email address. If you haven't already done so, please provide a non-@cua.edu email address in Cardinal Station by following the Request a Change instructions for changing your Personal Information. We'll use this address to send confirmation of any password resets or changes so that you can confirm no one else is using this service to change your password.
- Turn on 2-Step Verification for Cardinal Mail. Google's 2-Step Verification makes it much harder for someone else to sign in to your Cardinal Mail account. With 2-Step Verification, you provide your password, and another piece of security info. Even if someone learns your password, they won’t be able to log on if they don't have access to your security info. Learn more about 2-Step Verification for Google. Protect yourself by turning it on!
- If your Cardinal account does get locked out after you reset your password, please follow these steps:
- Power off all your devices.
- Wait 30 minutes.
- With the devices still powered off, use the Password Change Service again to change your password.
- Turn on each device one at a time and immediately update the password.
- If you are still having lockout problems, please contact the Service Desk for assistance (see the Technology Support links on this page). They can help you track down the problem device.
